Pininfarina Nido EV prototype

Pininfarina recently unveiled the Nido EV prototype, marking the company's 80th anniversary. Created entirely by the Pininfarina Style and Engineering Centre, the A-segment Nido EV is a showcase for the company's development of electric vehicles. It is a laboratory designed both to explore the electrification of a small city car and to develop a modular floorpan.
The Nido EV's modular platform allows for four different adaptations: it can be a two-seater or a 2+2, but it can also be used as a small pickup or van. The prototype can also be equipped with either a pure electric powertrain or a hybrid system. While this first prototype features a tubular steel frame, the final version will be built around an aluminum space frame and employ lightweight components.
Pininfarina showed another concept by the same name at the 2004 Paris motor show, with near identical proportions. But while that car was devised primarily as a safety study, the new prototype aims to demonstrate the company's focus on sustainable mobility.
